Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco - an Canadian and American artist and singer. Her catalog includes more than 20 albums. The music of DiFranco has been described as folk rock and alternative rock but also has elements of punk, funk, hip music and jazz. The widely regarded feminist icon Grammy award winner Ani DiFranco is the mother of the DIY movement being one of the first artists to create her own label the year 1990. DiFranco was the child of Elizabeth (Ross), and Dante Americo DiFranco. They began their relationship in their school, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her father was of Italian ancestry and her mom was Montreal-born. 32 Flavors is a hit song written as well as performed by Ani DiFranco. The song is featured on her album Not a Pretty Girl released in 1995. The song was featured in the soundtrack for the Canadian romantic comedy Better Than Chocolate, released in 1999. In 2013, DiFranco apologized when it was discovered that she planned to host a three-day workshop on a former Louisiana slave plantation. A lot of people (including us) were not affected by her decision to cancel. DiFranco offered a second apology several days after. Her name is associated with her Little Folksinger songs, however she has worked with several artists and genres from Pete Seeger to Chuck D. She lives in New Orleans. Ani DiFranco lives with Kristen Ford. In the span of 14 months, DiFranco had already written her own songs. She continued to perform them in bars and coffee shops throughout her teenage years. DiFranco was a student at Buffalo State College after graduating at the age of 16 from Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts. Ani's new baritone was a custom Alvarez, made by Chrys Johnston who at that time was an Alvarez artist rep. It has their System 600 preamp and has the entire solid woods: a top made of cedar, mahogany on the back, sides as well as an fretboard made of ebony. The couple lives with their two kids at home in New Orleans and Lefty, their canine companion who's always in the frame. DiFranco admits she's ambivalent about the idea of looking at her career backwards, even if it's been three years. Ani DiFranco became a pop/punk singer and songwriter when she was 25, when her debut album Not A Pretty Girl hit the charts. Dilate, released in 1996, gained even more popularity amongst fans. From the debut album Looking Glass, Brandy is a 1972 American pop-rock song. Elliot Lurie wrote the song. The band also has a guitar player and singer on the album Looking Glass.
