Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco - an Canadian and American artist and singer. Her catalog includes more than 20 albums. The music of DiFranco has been described as folk rock and alternative rock but also has elements of punk, funk, hip music and jazz. The widely regarded feminist icon Grammy award winner Ani DiFranco is the mother of the DIY movement being one of the first artists to create her own label the year 1990. DiFranco was the child of Elizabeth (Ross), and Dante Americo DiFranco. They began their relationship in their school, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her father was of Italian ancestry and her mom was Montreal-born. 32 Flavors is a hit song written as well as performed by Ani DiFranco. The song is featured on her album Not a Pretty Girl released in 1995. The song was featured in the soundtrack for the Canadian romantic comedy Better Than Chocolate, released in 1999. DiFranco was a student at Buffalo State College after graduating at the age of 16 from Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts. Ani's new baritone was a custom Alvarez, made by Chrys Johnston who at that time was an Alvarez artist rep.
