
Ormond was born in Epsom (Surrey) as the daughter Josephine who works as a laboratory technician , as is John Ormond. Ormond is the second of five children to her parents. Her first performances in Guys and Dolls and My Fair Lady attracted the attention of many. Then she attended Cranleigh School and Guildford High School. After one year in art college, she transferred to Webber-Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art. She graduated in the year 1988. Ormond made her first appearance on British television's 1989 serial Traffik. The show was about illicit heroin trade between far East and the streets of Europe. Ormond played the drug-addicted son of the main character the Home Office minister working to stop the importation of heroin. This role received glowing reviews from the very beginning.
